About Nirmal Saraai

Nirmal Saraai is a not-for-profit organization based in the United States. We are an independent entity separate from other religious organizations.

Nirmal means immaculate and Saraai means place of rest. Together Nirmal Saraai means to rest in the purest space which, according to our Holy Scriptures, is our Immortal Self/Atman. Our Immortal Self/Atman is One with the Eternal Universal Pure Cosmic Consciousness, the Parmātma, the God principle. The Doctrine of Oneness of Guru Nānak Dev ji, the founder of the GurSikh religion, declares that there is an Eternal One Universal Being with None other. All names and forms are Thy manifestations. Thou art Omnipresent, all pervading at all times in Thy entire Creation, sentient and insentient; indestructible by time, causation, space and substance. Guru Nānak Dev ji started ‘Nirmal Panth,’(panth meaning path), which culminated as the GurSikh religion after the ten Gurus in succession over 200 years. All ten Gurus treaded on that path of Righteousness, preaching the same teachings for all seekers of the Ultimate Reality, irrespective of their race, caste, color and socioeconomic status. Gurbani, revelations from our Scriptures, teaches us that there are innumerable ways of ritualistic worship, spiritual and yogic practice, and Belief systems to understand that One Eternal Reality—the Absolute.

The GurSikh religion is the 5th most widely practiced religion in the world. Our Scripture, Holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, is ordained as the embodiment of the living GurSikh Guru by the tenth Guru Gobind Singh ji Himself.

The word ‘Sikh’ simply means ‘learn.’ In Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji (SGGS ji), on Ang/Page 465 ਮ:੧|| Mehlā 1: ਸਿਖੀ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ || Sikhi sikhyā gur vichār.

Translation: Sikhi is learning to listen, contemplate, meditate, and live by the teachings of the Guru.

The objective of Nirmal Saraai is to raise awareness of the Universal Oneness of all Humanity, to elevate consciousness and heighten thought processes, enabling the intellect to evolve to comprehend the ultimate knowledge of the Immortal Self. Without it, all the delusions and doubts pertaining to the Self within the Phenomenal world cannot be removed. In SGGS ji on Ang 684, in

jan Nānak bin āpā cheenai mitai na bhram kee kā-ee. ||2||1||

Translation: Nānak declares that without experiential knowledge of the Atman which is One with Parmatmā, the Eternal Reality, doubts and delusions are never removed completely. ||2||1||

Grounded in the teachings of the GurSikh faith, Nirmal Saraai aims to empower individuals and communities by:

  • providing spiritual, educational, cultural and religious services and programs to promote well-being;
  • deepening our experience of the precious gift of life;
  • nurturing our ultimate potential.

We also aim to reach out to our youth, especially, who have been deprived of the knowledge of our rich heritage, the traditional teachings of our Holy Scriptures, our values and culture. The majority of the honorable preachers and priests, Gianis and Ragis, who visit the USA from India deliver their teachings in Punjabi, which is not understood by the majority of our youth. We need to encourage future generations to learn Punjabi and persuade preachers to learn English not only to facilitate communication, but also to bridge the widening generation gap.

We are beginning our work on a virtual platform. Honorable Gianis and Ragis will be actively participating in these services and programs. Our vision is to ultimately have a physical location and conduct in-person services.

We seek Vaheguru’s Grace for health, Divine wisdom, and guidance to walk on this Nirmal path together in Oneness. Our third Gursikh Guru, Guru Amar Das ji proclaims in SGGS ji on Ang 121 in ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ Mājh, Mehlā 3:  ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥

Nirmal jyot sabh māhi samānee.

Translation: The One Immaculate Light of Divine Consciousness pervades in all.
